Sitting on the shores of Bazan Bay, the Salish Sea Beach House looks directly onto James Island, Sidney Spit, and San Juan Island, WA.
We are also just a 1.5 kilometre walk into the beautiful waterfront community of Sidney by the Sea, which has everything you would ever need! The Salish Sea Beach House is conveniently located for all modes of transport to and from Southern Vancouver Island. We are two minutes from the Anacortes ferry (Washington State), 7 minutes from the Schwartz Bay Ferry Terminal (Lower Mainland, Gulf Islands), and 6 minutes from YYJ (Victoria International Airport).
There is so much to explore on the Saanich Peninsula, with the Lochside Trail right outside your front door. It is a biker’s paradise, and the fishing is great, too!
The Salish Sea Beach House is divided by Lochside Drive, and while the Beach House itself is situated across the road from the beach, 10,000 square feet of beach front is Salish Sea Beach House property, right up to the high tide mark. This area is situated on two levels that are accessed via stairs, or from our driveway, and is for the exclusive use of Salish Sea Beach House guests. Calm in the Summer, or perfect for storm-watching in the Winter, with the odd day warm enough to make you think you’re in the Caribbean! The landscape is ever changing as the seasons pass.
Photographers, bring your gear! The rising sun early in the morning, and the moon riding in the night sky reflect in the Salish Sea for a mesmerizing sight, and a remarkable photo!
Sitting at the picnic table with your morning coffee or tea is not a bad way to start your day!
That’s the front yard; now the back!
We are blessed to be surrounded by just over half an acre of English gardens, with walking paths inlaid with stones, bricks and sea glass meandering from the beach throughout the property. There are two levels: The lower garden, which I like to call the heart of the garden, boasts a seasonal creek and a pond bordered by a magnificent stand of Bamboo. The paths in this area are lined with impressive ferns of various sizes, forming a dramatic backdrop. And look closely, as throughout the garden you’ll find a few Faerie doors so our resident Faeries can come and go as they please. Children love to search for these elusive creatures!
Interested in birds? Look no further than the Salish Sea Beach House. Along with our 5 or so resident Anna Hummingbirds, we have a vast array of fine feathered friends that visit our property daily. A few bird feeders provide never ending entertainment for our guests!
The Solaris Suite bathroom features a deep soaker tub with an adjustable height shower. Glass block adds to the look. There is also a raised profile toilet, as well as a custom sink. We supply a hair dryer, plus complimentary toiletries: Shampoo, conditioner, lotion, hand soap, and several varieties of wonderfully scented bubble baths for those who prefer a nice, long soak.
After that, you can dry off with our Egyptian cotton towels, and wrap yourself in one of our plush, monogrammed Turkish bathrobes. You may never want to leave the suite!
Shoji screens provide privacy for the bedroom, which overlooks the garden. It has a wonderfully comfortable Bamboo mattress on a custom designed Mahogany Queen-sized bed. We had to respectfully decline when one of our guests wanted to take it home to England with him! We believe in luxury bedding and use the finest quality Egyptian cotton sheets. Our room-darkening blinds allow you to sleep through the breathtaking sunrises out front, if you wish!
The Solaris Suite can accommodate a maximum of four guests. The living room couch is a very comfortable double bed, and there is also a chair that turns into a twin bed, for a total of three beds. Comfort for everyone!
The kitchen will be stocked for your breakfast. If there is anything missing, please let us know. We want your stay here to be as comfortable as possible, so your input is appreciated. If you have any special dietary requirements or requests, we are all over it! Just let us know.
We look forward to seeing you on the Salish Sea!
